I love the look. I just would not have done the sanding in my house. The dust gets everywhere.

Looks really good, but aren’t you supposed to use a special polyurethane because food will be on the tabel?

Hi, Thanks! I just googled this and yes I guess I should have used tung oil instead??? This table isn’t used for prepping food but we do eat lots of meals on it. Now I know for next time.

Next time you strip anything, wrap it, once stripper is on the surface, w cling film! Got this from someone ( sorry i can’t give credit) on this site. It keeps it from drying too fast, allows the stripper to be WAY move effective. Leave it till dry, scrape it off. It’s great for heat or fancy areas that are difficult to keep wet. I’ve done several many pieces now and it saves money as the stripper works effectively. I buy cling film at the $1 store.
    Nice job you did.

Wow Jodi, It reminds me of all the refinishing your Mom use to do a thousand years ago. She was amazing and restored old antiques to looking perfect. You have inherited that talent and even beyond. Thanks for posting this. I have a walnut table that I would like to do over in walnut as it has a chip and couple of scratches on it. I think I can use this method, though I will be a real danger using a hand sander. Thanks for all the info.

At first I wasn’t sure about changing the table. However, after seeing it finished and in place in the room, I have to say FANTASTIC JOB. It looks wonderful and so in style today.
