End Table Serena & Lily Dupe

A friend of mine gave me these 2 end tables recently. They were big and heavy and in nice shape, they just needed some updating. A few months ago I made over this bureau and gave it a Serena & Lily look. It sold pretty quickly so I planned to do something similar to these end tables. Here is how.

Clean Up & Paint

I always start my projects with a good, old fashioned cleaning.

Then, I painted them white.

Using furniture paint is the best solution and usually doesn’t require that you use primer before painting. However, I had some primer left over from another project so I used it up. Of course, my cat always has to get in on the action. He always makes any new piece of furniture I am working on his new napping spot. Thankfully the paint on that table was dry when he decided to jump up on it.

Next, I applied this Natural Rattan Webbing for Caning Projects that I purchased from Amazon. You have to wet it to soften it up a bit. I cut a few pieces down to size, ran them under water for a few minutes, then placed them in the sun to dry.

Adhere the caning to the end tables…

Next, I glued the caning to the front of the drawers using spray adhesive, Mod Podge and my glue gun. and placing some heavy objects on them to dry.

Last but not least, I added these new handles, also found on Amazon, to complete the look.

These sold in one day on Facebook Marketplace for $150. I did spend more money on materials than I usually do, but still not a bad profit for a set of free tables. What do you think? Do they have Serena & Lily vibes?

The nice woman who bought these from me was nice enough to send a picture of how they look in her guest room. It is a pretty good match!
