DIY Message Board

DIY Message Boards

Read how we made these Large Boards for the Kids Rooms…

See these boards in the pictures below?  They were small box springs from the kids old platform beds.  We had them in the boys rooms waiting to be taken down to the garage and disposed of.  While giving house tours to 2 different friends, they both asked me what they were and both said you should put them up against the wall and let the kids use them as message/cork boards!  What a good idea!  So we did and we all love it.  Below is a tutorial on how we made these super simple DIY Message Boards.

Materials Used – DIY Message Boards…

We used old skinny box springs for the actual message board piece.  They sell large cork boards on Amazon if you want to try this project and don’t have a large, thin box spring laying around. 😉

Wood Adhesive

Paint (I used Pure Pewter)

Wood Trim

Step 1, Paint…

I chose to paint the boards and used Pure Pewter.  Paint was not necessary but we did it anyway.   These are old, skinny box springs that came from our kids old platform beds.  They aren’t really cork but push pins go in them easily.  They sell large cork boards on Amazon if you want to try this project and don’t have a large, thin box spring laying around. 😉

Step 2, Add Frame…

Once the paint was dry we glued a frame around it.  These pieces of framing were left over from our renovation, but you can buy them at Home Depot or any hardware store.  Like these.

Step 3, Hang…

Hang them up.   We had to put some hardware to the backs of these to be able to hang them.  We used these hooks.

My husband and I made these desks too.  You can read the tutorial here.  The coolest part of these desks is the white board paper on the top that I found on amazon!  You can write on it and erase all you want.

I hope you enjoyed this super simple project.
