Get ‘er done

Amazing stuff is happening at the House house.  I am talking major excavation here.  The old lanai (and a nice portion of the back of our house) is now gone.  Check out these photo’s.

They will be digging holes for footings later this week and then will begin framing out the extension and new lanai.  I am still having a hard time believing this will be our house someday and will eventually look ‘da bomb dot com’.  😉

Of course, all this work wouldn’t be complete without problems.  A friend, and future neighborhood, called us the other night to tell us there was a water geyser shooting out our front yard!  Apparently a water pipe burst under ground.  However, it wasn’t the contractors fault since their tractors were nowhere near it.  Turned out to be a city water pipe that had corroded away. Could have happened at any time.  Technically the pipe isn’t on our property, it’s the next door neighbors property.  Anyway, the county will be responsible for fixing it, thank goodness!  Here is what that mess looks like. It is a huge hole.

Now for the inside of the house.  It is basically down to the studs.  Just about every wall is gone and every piece of plaster too.  It is really crazy.  Things sure get A LOT worse before they get better in a home remodel.

This is the garage! No more wall.

Stay tuned for more updates.
