Like my blog? Like these updates? Please subscribe to my email list! It’s hard to believe that this gutted, messy, and empty looking place will be our house one day… This week, things are getting done, or at least they are supposed to be getting done. On the agenda…framing and excavation! They will begin framing out the walls on the first floor and the excavation guys will be demoing the old concrete…
Do you have a DIY project that you’d like to share on my blog? Do you know a super crafty person who might be interested? If so, share this page with them. We are back from Cape Cod and things are progressing on the house! I don’t have any new exciting pictures to post so I thought I’d talk about floors…. Our contractor suggested we take a look at floors recently. Wow, is that hard! There are just too many choices for my already overwhelmed little head. I thought I knew what I wanted, but, once we got to the showroom all that went…
Hello from Cape Cod, Massachusetts. We are here for a week. Our last vacation for a while. Anyway, work has finally begun on the House house (figures it starts the week we are gone, but still, it has started and that’s all that matters)! After many, many months of planning and waiting, and going back and forth with contractors, architects, etc it has officially begun. Hall-e-lu-jah! Step one is demolition.…
My family and I just got back from a 2 week vacation. We visited 8 states in 15 days, and went to a fun family wedding along the way. It was so great to see so many of my cousins, aunts and uncles, who I hadn’t seen in years, at the wedding. The whole trip was awesome and we saw some really amazing sights. My intent was to blog a few times along…
Last week we got to pick out appliances for our new kitchen. Yawn…..bo-ring, am I right? Well, it actually wasn’t as boring as I thought and, dare I say, was sort of fun. My husband and I have only had to pick out appliances when they needed replacing; a new dishwasher and fridge when we bought our current house and once years ago a dishwasher for our Boston condo. Never have we had to…
We have been waiting for permits for weeks. It stinks! Apparently this is normal in the county in which we live, but it still stinks. You’d think since it is so hot here in the summer that it would be a slower time for builders, making it easier to get permits, but that is not true. Many of the luxury high-rise condo’s here have restrictions that state no renovations during ‘season’.…
Hey y’all! I am so excited. For me, designing my own kitchen is probably the best part of this whole remodeling process. After all, the kitchen is the ‘heart of the home’, right? This week we had an appointment with Lyndsey Davis Nicklas at Kitchens by Clay right here in Naples. My husband and I met with Lyndsey several weeks ago to discuss the project and today she showed us 3 different layouts for our…
